Orange County Sunday School Teacher Found Guilty of Molesting Five Boys
Multiple news outlets reported that Christopher Bryan McKenzie, Costa Mesa resident and a volunteer Sunday school teacher at several Orange County churches, was convicted of sexually assaulting five boys and attempting to attack a sixth boy. According to the OC Weekly, McKenzie meet three victims through Rock Harbor Church in Costa Mesa, one through Christ Church by the Sea in Newport Beach, two through relatives, and at his apartment complex. All of the victims were under 14 years old at the time of their attack, which occurred between March 1995 and January 2012. McKenzie hired some of the victims as helpers in his swimming pool cleaning business, and on multiple occasions, he would show the victims a note he claimed was left on his car from an artist offering to pay the children to pose nude for a sculpture. He was detained in December 2012 after a victim told Newport Beach Police what the victim did. McKenzie is scheduled to be sentenced September 4, 2015 and faces 135 years to life in prison.
