Sacramento School Worker Arrested On Suspicion of Sexually Assaulting Child
The Sacramento Bee reported that Joshua Vasquez, 31, who was formerly the program leader for a after-school program (part of the city of Sacramento’s START program), was arrested on Friday on suspicion of sexually assaulting a minor. According to the news report, an investigation began on Tuesday at Mark Twain Elementary School, where Vasquez worked and the assault was believed to have happened. Due to the sensitive nature of the alleged crime and also confidentiality laws, very little information was released. Vasquez was placed on administrative leave by the city of Sacramento as soon as news of the allegations were brought to the attention of city officials. An administrative investigation was initiated (in addition to the criminal investigation being conducted by the Police Department). Upon learning of the allegations, Vasquez resigned. He was taken to the Sacramento County Jail and booked on suspicion of oral copulation with a victim younger than 10. Police believe there may be additional victims, and urge anyone with information or who may have been a victim to call the Police Department’s communications center at 916-264-5471 or Crime Alert at 916-443-4357, or text a tip to 274637.
