Granite Hills High School Coach Arrested for Sex Crimes
TULARE COUNTY — James Magana, 20, a volunteer coach for Granite Hills High School was arrested Monday on multiple charges of sexual crimes against minors, including suspicion of oral copulation with a minor, communication with a minor with the intent to molest, sexual penetration by force, child endangerment, and assault with intent to commit sodomy. Magana, of Porterville, worked as a Porterville Unified School District substitute classified employee who volunteered to assist the Granite cross-country team. Allegedly, he sent sexually explicit photographs t a 15-year-old male student through social media, and sent sexually suggestive text messages to two additional 15-year-old male students. A press release by PUSD states: “The District is committed to the safety and well-being of all of our students. All District staff receives regular training and guidance regarding the importance of maintaining appropriate relationships with students.
